Visiting the Gardens by the Bay, Singapore

“If Singapore is a nanny state, then I am proud to have fostered one. “

– Lee Kuan Yew, Former Prime minister of Singapore

The Gardens by the Bay are up there with the Marina Sands and Universal Studios in Sentosa as the most famous tourist attractions in Singapore. I’m my opinion, if you only have a short time in Singapore then visiting the gardens by the bay is easily the most important things to do here! (It beats drinking a Singapore Sling anyway)

You may have seen the famous supertrees before on various Singapore tourism images… but did you know that the 18 ‘trees’ have over 162,500 plants between them? That’s crazy. There are 200 species from all over the world growing on them right now!

The gardens aren’t just some huge metal trees with some different flowers on, though. There is the OCBC skyway which you can walk across for some picturesque views of the Singaporean waterfront. The two huge conservatories, cloud forest (pictured above) and flower dome will cost a little bit extra for entry. but I believe they are worth it – even just to get seek a cool air-conditioned refuge from the Singapore heat!

There also a number of smaller but equally informative gardens included within the ‘gardens by the bay’ area here, as well as several statues for you to enjoy.
